Kano Pillars today beat Katsina United 2-0 to win the Northwest Derby, while Enugu Rangers bounced back from an opening day defeat at Rivers United to pip visiting Akwa United 1-0 in the second week of the NPFL.

David Ebuka and captain Rabiu Ali scored for Pillars inside the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.

Katsina United fought back after the break but they were far from clinical in front of goal even though the lively Atule threatened the Pillars goal severally.

In Enugu, coach Salisu Yusuf led Rangers to their first win of the campaign thanks to a match winner on the hour by striker Israel Abia.

Nasarawa United recorded the only win on the road courtesy of a 2-1 win at Heartland, who have now lost their first two games.

Chinedu Ohanachom and Hassan Adamu hit target for ‘The Solid Miners’, while the consolation goal for the home was by Shedrack Oghali

There were also home wins for Dakkada, Sunshine Stars, Warri Wolves and Lobi Stars.
