Defending champions, Enyimba moved within reach of league leaders, Lobi Stars and Remo Stars after securing a 1-0 win over Shooting Stars Sports Club in the Nigeria Premier Football League on Saturday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Chijioke Mbaoma's first half strike was all the People's Elephant of Aba to needed to earn a vital win over the Oluyole Warriors at the Enyimba International Stadium.

Imo Obot got the first chance of the game after forcing a save off the goalie from long range in the 9th minute.

5 minutes later, Enyimba got a free kick but the well struck kick was parried by goalkeeper Okemute Odah.

The host continued dominance 20 minutes later and almost got close to scoring but goalkeeper Okemute parried away the ball ince again.

Alex Aghahowa almost shocked the champions after his effort came off the post 5 minutes to the end of the first half.

However, the hosts' pressure finally paid off after a fine build up by the team saw Eze Ekwutoziam's cross put beyond Okiemute by Mbaoma in the 44th minute.

Enyimba's search for the second goal saw Okemute make a point blank save to from Ekwutoziam's effort to keep the Oluyole Warriors in the game 15 minutes to the end of the encouounter.

The game ended 1-0 as the Aba giants secure a double over the Ibadan side which they defeated 2-1 when they played at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan some weeks ago.
