Enyimba's striker, Emeka Obioma is hungry to improve his goal scoring record despite being on the score sheet twice at the weekend against Kwara United at Aba, Nigeriasoccernet.com report.

The former Abia Warriors forward was signed in 2021 by the People's Elephant after a brilliant season where he emerged the Warrior's top scorer with twelve goals.

Obioma is a proven goal scorer as he has shown for Heartland, Abia Warriors and presently Enyimba, but the striker is not ready to rest on his oars as he feels he can do better.

"I need to be better in front of goal,” Obioma said post-match.

“To make that leap to become an elite player I have to score more goals and assist more. With the chances that my team-mates created for me, I should have taken advantage of some of them and maybe I would’ve scored more than the two I scored today but there is always a room for improvement and that’s what am working on”, he admitted.

“I think it’s a matter of getting the chances again and being more relaxed [in front of goal].”

The 24-year-old went on analyse the win against Kwara United. “We defended well, and created an unplayable pattern against them with a lot of our players combating the midfield and making them to chase the ball. I think we are competing very well, both on Sunday last week and today, showing that eleven against eleven we can compete with anyone.

“We go into games with a lot of enthusiasm. Right now, we have to keep fighting as the league is still young and also an abridged one, because we are ahead of those behind us and, although Insurance and Remo are a few points ahead of us, we have to do our best to be up there on top of our group. The atmosphere is good… the downside is the injuries we have, but the atmosphere in the camp helps a lot,” he added.

Enyimba will travel to Ikenne to face wounded Remo Stars at the Remo Stars Stadium on Wednesday in their next match.
