NNL'23: Heartland unveil 17 new players

As part of Gov Hope Uzodimma’s “Return Heartland team to NPFL” project, Heartland football club of Owerri yesterday Thursday the 16th of March unveiled the latest signing brought in to beaf up the squad ahead of the 2023 Nigerian National league season kickoff at the Dan Anyiam stadium Owerri.

While 17 new players signed on from different clubs around the world was unveiled, 10 other players were promoted from the Youth team to the senior team.

List of players unveiled are as follows.

Midfielder Jeremiah Ndukwe signed from Solo fc

Vasatile player Okenmiri Anthony from Abia warriors FC

Striker Tunde Franklin from Sunshine Stars

Midfielder Onyekachi Okafor Ali saman FC

Defender Chukwujekwu Onuoha Nnewi United

Midfielder Chukwuma Nwankwo from First bank FC Lagos

Attacking midfielder Fabian Omaka from Eyimba FC

Left back Udeozo Ikechukwu from Nnewi United

Goal keeper Bright John Chimezie from Dakkada FC

Central back Afolanyan Peters from Dino Sporting Club Abuja

Attacker Gideon Julius from Akwa United

Striker Arum chukwuebuka kingsley from Amanda FC

Striker Chibuzor Ekeocha from Heartland youth team

Winger Nwohuruche Victor from GO Round FC

Goal keeper Chisom Bright Chiaya from Rangers International

Defender Nnaemeka Anyawu unveiled as captain

Goal keeper Edwin Nnaemeka from Calabar Rovers

Meanwhile 10 other players have been promoted from the academy team to make up the squad.

Speaking to the statesman newspaper sports desk immediately after the unveiling the General Manager Mr Promise Nwachukwu thanked his Excellency the Governor of Imo state Senator Hope Uzodimma for his commitment towards the return of Heartland club to the top flight league in Nigeria and also expressed his sincere appreciation to the Governor for gifting Heartland a sports commissioner like Honourable Emeka Okoronkwo who is always ready to render listening ears and willing to always do the right thing at the right time.

“What we are going into is a big project ‘operation bring Heartland fc to premiership.”

We are also very happy as a club because the Governor of the state gave us a wonderful commissioner that knows what to do.

He does the right thing at the right time and he has assured us that whatever we need will be made available.

We promise the people that whatever we have in mind to achieve is what we will achieve” Nwachukwu said.
