Sydney: Australia skipper Sam Kerr continues to rack up the accolades after picking up two awards at the annual ESPYS.

The 26-year-old was named as the best player in America’s National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) as well as the Best International Soccer Player.

It’s the second straight year Kerr has been voted the best international player in the NWSL, beating out Pernille Harder (Denmark), Norway’s Ada Hegerberg and Lucy Bronze of England.

She took out the NWSL’s best player gong ahead of Portland Thorns duo Lindsey Horan and Adrianna Franch, as well as Abby Erceg from North Carolina Courage.

Kerr, who plays for Chicago Red Stars, has enjoyed a remarkable couple of years in the NWSL, breaking the all-time goalscoring record last year.

She has won the Golden Boot for the last two seasons and became the first player to 50 goals in the competition, as well as the first to score three or more hat-tricks.

Her 2019 season has been just as prolific so far, again leading the NWSL scoring charts with nine for the campaign, while she has been voted the Player of the Week on three occasions.

The ESPY Awards are presented by US network ABC and they recognise individual and team achievements.
