Super Falcons duo Jennifer Echegini and Rasheedat Ajibade delivered impressive performances despite Paris Saint-Germain Women’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Wednesday in their third group-stage fixture of the UEFA Women’s Champions League, Nigeriasoccernet.com writes.

Echegini came close to opening the scoring early in the match, unleashing a thunderous long-range effort that crashed against Middleton-Patel’s left post before rolling agonisingly along the goal line without crossing it.

Her early strike set the tone for a lively first half in which PSG created several dangerous opportunities. Ajibade was also heavily involved, using her pace and creativity on the flank to win a crucial corner just before the break. However, PSG were left frustrated as three successive attempts narrowly missed the target in the dying moments of the half.

The defeat leaves the Parisian side with plenty of work to do as they reach the halfway point of the group stage. With Bayern Munich set to visit the Parc des Princes next Thursday, both Echegini and Ajibade will be eager to help PSG bounce back and keep their qualification hopes alive.

The Nigerian stars have been among the bright spots for the French champions this season and will be looking to make their mark once again on the European stage.
