The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has confirmed Ikenne, Ogun State, as the host city for the 2024/2025 NWFL Premiership Super Six Tournament, marking a return of the elite women’s football playoff to the South West region for the first time since 2021, Nigeriasoccernet.com can report.

The tournament will run from Thursday, May 8, to Sunday, May 17, 2025, at the Remo Stars Stadium, home ground of Remo Stars Ladies, who are also among the six finalists. This is the first time Ikenne will host the league playoffs.

NWFL Chairperson Ms. Nkechi Obi expressed excitement about the venue selection, stating:

“This is a significant opportunity to further stimulate the revival of women’s football in the state—fondly remembered as the host of the inaugural Women’s AFCON in 1998—and to elevate the profile of the women’s game nationwide. It also aligns with our WomenFootballRising agenda to expand elite women’s football across all regions.”

The 2025 NWFL Super Six will feature a round-robin format, with each team playing five matches. Clubs are expected to arrive on May 8, while the draw and pre-match briefing will be held the next day.

Confirmed teams so far:

  • Rivers Angels

  • Nasarawa Amazons

  • Bayelsa Queens

  • Edo Queens

  • Remo Stars Ladies

The final slot will be decided after the Matchweek 14 showdown between Robo Queens and Naija Ratels on April 30, 2025.

With four different champions in the last four editions—Rivers Angels (2021), Bayelsa Queens (2022), Delta Queens (2023), and Edo Queens (2024)—the 2025 edition promises another intense battle for supremacy.

The Super Six winner will represent Nigeria in the WAFU-B Qualifiers for a chance to compete in the 2025 CAF Women’s Champions League and potentially the inaugural 2026 FIFA Women’s Club Championship.
