The Super Eagles forward was the star of the night after inspiring Atalanta BC to a 3–0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League, scoring once and providing an assist. Speaking to the press after the game, he reflected on his resurgence and the challenges he has faced this season.

Following a difficult spell in which he struggled for form after missing the start of the campaign due to summer transfer complications and a disagreement with former coach Juric, the 2024 African Footballer of the Year now appears revitalised under new manager Raffaele Palladino.

Asked how challenging it has been to rebuild relationships with teammates and fans during this period, Lookman responded that “what happened has happened,” noting that many issues had been unfolding behind the scenes—some known to the public, others not.

The Nigerian international stressed that full commitment is now required, saying: “Now is the time when I have to work hard for the team, and we have to win matches.”

Upon his recent appointment, Coach Palladino described Lookman as fundamental to his project at the Bergamo-based club—a sentiment the forward’s performance continues to validate.
