Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has expressed deep appreciation to Moroccan supporters for their overwhelming backing during Nigeria’s third-place playoff victory over Egypt at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Atalanta attacker was one of the standout figures in the encounter, calmly converting the decisive penalty as the Super Eagles defeated the Pharaohs 4–2 in a shootout after regulation time ended goalless. Nigeria went on to secure the bronze medal, rounding off an impressive AFCON campaign with a morale-boosting win.

Speaking after the match, Lookman admitted he and his teammates were surprised by the level of support they received from Moroccan fans, especially in a game that did not involve the host nation.

“The Moroccan fans’ support today will never be forgotten,” Lookman said. “We truly didn’t expect such an incredible turnout in a match that didn’t even concern their team. We were amazed by their massive presence and their encouragement throughout the game. We owe them all our thanks and deep respect.”

Throughout the contest, Moroccan supporters filled the stands. They created a lively atmosphere, loudly cheering Nigeria and turning the stadium into what felt like a home venue for the Super Eagles. Their vocal backing was noticeable during key moments, including the tense penalty shootout that sealed Nigeria’s victory.

Lookman also revealed that the Super Eagles would be returning the gesture by backing Morocco in the tournament final.

“Tomorrow we will be in the stadium to support you in winning the title,” he added.

Nigeria’s bronze medal finish capped a strong showing at AFCON 2025, with the Super Eagles earning praise for their performances, resilience, and attacking quality across the tournament.
