Katsina United defeated the reigning champions of the Nigeria Premier Football League, Remo Stars, in the match day fixture played in Katsina on Sunday, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

The Changi Boys overpowered the Sky Blue Stars 3-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium to record their fourth victory of the season.

Akanni Elijah's excellent free kick gave the host the lead on 32 minutes, but Remo managed to equalise before halftime through Abubakar Ibrahim six minutes later as the first half ended 1-all.

Uche Collins restored the lead for Katsina United at the hour mark from the spot following a foul in the box.

Victory was consolidated by AbdulRahman Garba at the death of the game after additional time, following goalkeeper Sabitou's failure to handle a free kick properly as Garba pounced to score from the follow-up

The win leaves Katsina United sixth on the log after eight matches played, while Remo Stars are in twelfth position after seven matches played.
