Madagascar has booked a spot in their maiden African Nations Championship (CHAN) final after edging Sudan 1-0 in a tense semi-final clash at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium, Dar es Salaam, on Tuesday, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

The decisive moment came in the 116th minute when substitute Toky Rakotondraibe fired home, sparking wild celebrations as the Barea sealed a place in Saturday’s grand finale.

The island nation will now head to Nairobi, where they face either Morocco or Senegal in the title showdown.

This remarkable feat highlights Madagascar’s swift rise in African football. After clinching bronze on debut in 2022, they have now gone a step further to become the first island nation ever to reach a CAF senior competition final.
