Bassey Reflects on Fulham’s Defeat to Everton, Calls for Improvement at Set-Pieces
Nigeria international Calvin Bassey has shared his thoughts on Fulham’s 2-0 defeat to Everton, acknowledging that the team struggled to maintain consistency during the Premier League clash at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, NigeriaSoccernet.com can report.
Speaking to Sporty TV, the 25-year-old defender admitted that Fulham lost their rhythm after a promising start and emphasized the need for defensive improvement, especially on set-pieces.
“We could have been a little bit more dynamic in the first half. We had control, then we lost control,” Bassey said. “We’ve got to do better at set-pieces. We’ve conceded 16 goals, 10 of them have come from personal errors or set-pieces. We need to do better.”
Bassey also revealed he picked up a slight knock during the game but assured fans that it was nothing serious.
“This game, we knew it was going to be a fight. Beto, Barry, they’re fighters; they make life difficult for you, so we were prepared. I got a little knock, but I’m fine,” he added.
Looking ahead, the former Rangers and Ajax defender believes the international break comes at a good time, allowing the players to rest and refocus before resuming league duties.
“It gives everyone a chance to breathe a bit before we get on and get back into the Premier League,” Bassey concluded.
Fulham will be aiming to bounce back stronger after the break as Marco Silva’s side looks to regain form and climb the Premier League standings.
