Aliyu Zubairu has officially stepped down as head coach of Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri following a mutual agreement between both parties to part ways, Nigeriasoccernet.com has gathered.
In a statement released by the coach, Zubairu confirmed his decision not to extend his contract with the club, which expires at the end of his two-year tenure.
“After careful consideration, I’ve decided not to renew my contract,” Zubairu stated. “This decision is rooted in my belief that I’ve made a meaningful contribution to the growth and development of the club. True to my nature, I believe it’s time to move on to the next chapter of my coaching journey.”
He led the club to the 2023/24 Federation Cup title during his tenure.
Zubairu will now shift his focus to his role with the Flying Eagles as they gear up for the FIFA U20 World Cup 2025.
