Needing only a point to progress, Mali controlled possession but struggled to break down a disciplined Comoros side who looked dangerous on the counter and came closest through Meziani Maoulida.

Mali’s best chance fell to Lassine Sinayoko whose powerful effort was well saved before the break.

The pattern continued after the interval with little cutting edge from either side. Late drama followed in the 88th minute when Amadou Haidara was sent off but Mali held on under late pressure.

The result confirmed Morocco as group winners, with Mali finishing second on three points from three draws. Comoros exit in third place with two points, narrowly missing out on qualification.
