Dessers, who joined the Ibrox Stadium from Serie A outfit Cremonese last summer, has sparked doubts about his consistency despite showing promise in scoring.

The Nigerian international has tallied 13 goals and three assists in 27 appearances for the Light Blues. However, Ferguson believes the 29-year-old striker still has room for improvement in his game.

Speaking to The Herald via Daily Post, Ferguson expressed his views on Dessers' playing style, stating, "He’s frustrating. When you’ve played with some quality strikers, you know if they get space in the box, it’s one and two-touch finishes. But he always wants to take that third and fourth. He blows a bit hot and cold."

While acknowledging Dessers' goal tally, Ferguson emphasized uncertainties about his role and playing style: "But I’m still not sure exactly what Dessers is. Is he a target man? Does he run the channels? He’s certainly not an out-and-out finisher."

Ferguson further suggested that Dessers might benefit from additional coaching to refine his game, remarking, "He looks like somebody who needs to be coached when it should be natural in his game."

Despite the critique, Ferguson commended the influence of the manager on Dessers' performance, noting, "If he’s been feeling the pressure, he’s not shown it too much, and that’s probably down to the manager."
