Ghana striker Kwesi Appiah has been ruled out of action for up to SIX MONTHS after undergoing surgery to fix a knee injury.

The 24-year-old damaged both an anterior and collateral ligament while training with the Black Stars in the lead up to the opening 2017 AFCON qualifier against Mauritius in Accra.

Appiah as a result was withdrawn from the Ghana squad for the game against Mauritius which the Back Stars eventually won with a massive 7-1 scoreline.

Appiah has since returned to his base in the UK where he underwent surgery.

The Crystal Palace striker has been told he needs six months to fully recover from the serious injury setbacl.

Kwesi Appiah played for Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations where he scored in the quarter final win over Guinea.
