Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has emerged a transfer target of Aston Villa as a replacement for Christian Benteke.

The 23-year-old has been a subject of intense transfer talk throughout the summer with a prospective move to Lille the most talked of.

Ayew has shot himself back into the frame following his impressive exploits in helping  Lorient escape relegation last season.

The former Olympique Marseille man has now been linked to Aston Villa as a replacement for Christian Benteke who has been sold to Liverpool for a free reportedly in excess of £32m.

Villa want to reinvest part of the proceeds received from the sale of Benteke back into their squad and have identified Jordan as a suitable replacement.

The Premiership side are reportedly ready to pay the €8m asking price for Jordan.

If the deal materialise, Jordan would be presented with the opportunity of playing against his brother Andre once more again.

Andre joined Swansea last month as a free agent from Marseille.

Both brothers after playing as teammates at Marseille for years, played against each other last season when Jordan was finally sold to Lorient.
