Gyan has been a household name the last five years with his goals and celebrations anywhere he played.

His choreographed dances made him endearing at the Stadium of Light when he played for Sunderland.

Gyan, who has penned a lucrative deal for Chinese side Shanghai SIPG and become Africa’s highest paid footballer, thinks the most important is for players to win fans over-something he learnt from the movie Gladiator.

He wants Christian Atsu and Andre Ayew who have signed for Bournemouth and Swansea respectively in the English Premier League to adopt that strategy so they can make impacts.

“All you have to do is to win the fans [over]. That is the main thing I learnt from the movie Gladiator. Everywhere you go the first thing you have to do is to win over the fans,” Gyan said.

“[The Ghanaian players In the EPL] are capable of doing that and they have got that fighting spirit. Andre has got that fighting spirit. The English like you to play with your heart.

“Even [when] things are not going well, let them see you have that eagerness to do something. That is all they want and I can see that in Andre so I just wish them luck.”
