Chairman of the Black Stars management committee George Afriyie, says the GFA is not happy with the conduct of Black Stars head Coach Avram Grant following his continual stay abroad instead of Ghana and would address the issue when the Coach arrives this weekend.
Grant-60-years-old was due to arrive back in Ghana last two weeks to begin preparations for Ghana’s 2017 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda and an exhibition game against Congo early in September.
The former West Ham United, Portsmouth and Chelsea boss has grown a penchant for over staying abroad despite signing a contract with the GFA that binds him to spend time in Ghana and monitor players in the local league.
George Afriyie who is an executive committee member of the Ghana Football Association and doubles up as a chairman of the Black Stars management committee says Grant’s prolonged stay outside the country has attracted the attention of the GFA and the issue would be addressed properly when he arrives in Ghana.
“First he went to see a couple of players but later called to says he wanted to see other games before arriving on Sunday,” Afriyie told Accra based Citi FM
“But I must admit he has overstayed and the GFA will seek to address this when he arrives.”
Grant led Ghana to an impressive second place finish in the last Africa Cup of nations held in Equatorial Guinea despite taking up the job three weeks to the competition.
