Nigeria Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle has spoken on the areas of improvement for his team after the game against Russia, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.

Nigeria and Russia played a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes in the friendly played at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow.

Tolu Arokodare in the 70th minutes cancelled an own goal by Sami Ajayi in the 26th to leave the encounter all square at the sound of the final whistle.

Eric Chelle stated after the match that his team didn't play well in the first half, but got better in the second half.

He revealed the need to improve the team's playing style especially with the introduction of new players.

“Now we are talking about the future of my team as we are preparing for the World Cup qualifiers.

“We made lots of changes to the squad, and our usual pressing game was a bit difficult because the new players are yet to fully understand how we want to play.

“So, we need to keep working on our playing pattern and try to find balance,” he said.

The result meant Nigeria kept its unbeaten record in the year 2025, ahead of two crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Rwanda and South Africa in three months.
