Dated: Rwanda arrive in Uyo for crucial World Cup qualifier against Nigeria
Rwanda's national football team, the Amavubi, is set to arrive in Uyo, Nigeria, on Wednesday, September 3, ahead of their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Super Eagles, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The match, scheduled for Saturday, September 6, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, is vital for Nigeria's World Cup aspirations.
Head coach Adel Amrouche is expected to announce his squad for the Group C encounter this week.
The Amavubi will be looking to replicate their 2-1 win over Nigeria in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, which took place in Uyo.
However, the Super Eagles will enter the match with more confidence, having secured a 2-0 victory over Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali earlier this year.
A win for Nigeria would significantly boost their chances of securing a place at the World Cup.
The Super Eagles currently sit fourth in Group C with seven points, while Rwanda is second with eight points.
The encounter against the Amavubis is scheduled for September 6.
