Captain of the home-based Super Eagles, Junior Nduka, has expressed the team’s strong desire to make history by lifting the trophy at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.

Nigeria’s recent achievements in sports have created a wave of national pride, with the Super Falcons clinching a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco, and D’Tigress securing their fifth straight FIBA Women’s AfroBasket crown in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on Sunday.

Speaking during the pre-match press conference in Zanzibar on Monday, Nduka highlighted the emotional significance of the team’s mission and the motivation drawn from recent triumphs by fellow national teams.

“To our fellow Nigerians, I know the expectations are high because we have been doing well in sports, and we will try our best not to let them down,” Nduka said.

“Our female team has just won the WAFCON, and our women’s team just won the basketball title. It’s a good record for the country, and we hope to consolidate on that.”

The Super Eagles B side will be looking to build on this national momentum as they prepare to kick off their CHAN 2024 campaign, with hopes of bringing yet another continental title home.
