Aiyegun warns Chelle's men of Benin's determination
Benin Republic forward, Tosin Aiyegun has acknowledged the difficulty of the upcoming clash against the Super Eagles of Nigeria but has assured that his team will give their all in the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
The Cheetahs currently top Group C with 17 points from nine matches, and a positive result against Nigeria would significantly boost their chances of qualifying for the World Cup for the first time.
"It won’t be easy there, but that’s football. We dreamed of playing a great match. Now it’s against Nigeria. We have to give it our all,” Aiyegun said after scoring the winning goal in Benin's 1-0 victory over Rwanda at the Amahoro Stadium on Friday.
The match between Nigeria and Benin Republic is set to take place at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday.
A win or a draw for Benin Republic would likely secure their spot at the World Cup, depending on the outcome of other matches in the group.
