Ademola Lookman Targets Premier League Switch After Inter Milan Move Collapses
Ademola Lookman has opened talks with several Premier League clubs as he resumes training with Atalanta following the breakdown of his proposed transfer to Inter Milan, reports Nigeriasoccernet.com.
According to TBR Football, the Nigerian forward’s representatives have held discussions with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Manchester City, and Aston Villa in recent days as they explore possible exits from Bergamo.
Lookman returned to Atalanta’s Zingonia training ground after Inter formally pulled out of negotiations, ending weeks of uncertainty. The 27-year-old had staged a two-week training boycott in protest at the club’s refusal to sanction his move to the San Siro.
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey revealed:
“Lookman is hugely disappointed not to move to Inter, his head was in Milan and he put in a transfer request, which in itself is quite rare nowadays. But his people are looking at options, and there are teams, big teams, in England who would be interested.”
Bailey further explained the Premier League interest:
“Tottenham’s move for Savinho has stalled, Arsenal still haven’t got their new left winger, and Chelsea haven’t finalised the Garnacho deal yet. City might yet need to replace Savinho whilst Aston Villa have just sold Jacob Ramsey – it is not hard to see why Lookman’s people are in contact with these Premier League clubs.”
Atalanta are demanding £45m for the Super Eagles star, who was once praised by former manager Gian Piero Gasperini as having “become a truly extraordinary player, among the best in Europe and the world.”
Meanwhile, Lookman faces disciplinary sanctions for his unauthorised absence, with La Gazzetta dello Sport reporting that the club will fine him and dock his wages. However, head coach Ivan Juric is believed to be cautious about losing more attacking options following the departure of leading scorer Mateo Retegui.
