2026 FIFA WCQ: Rwanda's win pushes Nigeria down to fourth in Group C
Rwanda has bounced back from their 1-0 defeat to Nigeria last weekend with a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe in a crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying fixture, Nigeriasoccernet.com reports.
Gilbert Mugisha scored the only goal of the game, converting a free-kick just before half-time.
Despite a goalless second half, Rwanda's victory was enough to see them rise to third place in Group C with 11 points.
Leading group is South Africa with 16 points, leading the group while Benin Republic and Rwanda have 11 points in second and third respectively.
Nigeria in fourth with 10 points after a game. Both Benin and Nigeria have a game less.
Nigeria's position in the group has been affected by this result, and they now face a tough challenge as they travel to South Africa for their next match.
Benin Republic meanwhile, will host Lesotho in the last game of the group tonight, looking to maintain their position in the standings.
